Introducing: Talib Mammadov

Known for his outgoing personality, dependable nature and his dedication to his job and interactions with guests, it’s little wonder that Talib Mammadov has been recognised and nominated often amongst his peers (he was recently awarded Supervisor of the Quarter) and that his name often appears in positive reviews (such as those found on TripAdvisor). 

Having joined the hotel in December 2016, Talib quickly became fabled for his fabulous personality, his punctuality and his hardworking nature. It took him less than two years to be promoted to Villa Host Leader, which officially happened in June 2018. Hailing from Azerbaijan, Talib speaks three languages, Russian, Turkish and English, making him a real asset at Kanuhura and a firm favourite amongst the Russian and Turkish guests. 

Being promoted was a big deal for Talib and he was hugely taken aback for being recognised for his exceptional service. He is also grateful for the opportunity to prove himself further with extra responsibilities that allow him closer involvement with management duties. These duties include maintaining the duty schedule, preparing reports (such as guest profile updates and feedback and villa host allocation) which helps him to develop his leadership skills. He is also in a better position to help others develop their skills and be a part of their personal growth which he finds fulfilling. 

Early mornings

A typical day for Talib starts at sunrise when he wakes up in order to get ready in time for the daily briefing at 08:00. During this meeting, all the villa hosts and villa host leaders discuss matters for the day. They talk about the day’s arrivals and departures, any villa moves, excursions, important events (such as birthdays or anniversaries), guest profiles, incident reports, special requests, theme nights, kids activities and rainy day activities, if applicable. 


After the meeting, Talib touches base with his guests, welcomes them to breakfast and discusses the day’s plans. One of the things that Talib loves most about his job is that it allows him to engage with guests from around the world. As a true “people’s person” there’s nothing he enjoys more than to interact with his guests and get to know them better (which also helps him to provide better, more tailored services to them). 

Once he has spoken with his guests, he coordinates with housekeeping to ensure the rooms are cleaned and in order. He also books any spa treatments, activities or excursions for guests and assists with new arrivals and departures. After this, he catches up on emails, reservations and admin.

Sun-filled afternoons

Guests find the best ways to enjoy their afternoons in paradise. Whether it’s by lying on the beach with a book (and a cocktail) or diving with sea turtles in the blue waters of Lhaviyani Atoll.

While they are enjoying their activities, Talib loves to catch up with his colleagues or repeat guests over a cup of coffee or enjoy some beach activities with the kids. Gorgeous afternoons, when he is not needed by his guests, present perfect opportunities for him to embrace the wonders of the destination. The afternoons are also usually when training sessions occur. Talib relishes opportunities to constantly grow and learn. 
Balmy evenings

In the late afternoons, Talib typically welcomes his guests back from excursions (such as the sunset fishing trip or a champagne cruise). He loves to get their feedback on the experience, catch up with them about their day, check any requests or concerns and forward any message on to the appropriate departments. He then helps guests settle in for a nice evening. After he has done this, he confirms any plans or transfers for the following day.

Fishing trip

As his guests head to dinner, Talib checks in with them and that their dietary requirements are attended to. While the guests eat, he, along with a housekeeping attendant, provides the turndown service in the villa and organises the guest’s belongings so that everything is perfect on their return.
