Ferney Trail runners reach new heights
The Ferney Trail is now a regular fixture in the sports and leisure calendar of this beautiful island. The participants experience stunning landscapes, crossing fresh rain forests and streams while scaling the dizzy heights of the Bambous mountain range. The event has been grown in popularity and in 2013 saw over 1,800 runners take part.
The results were:

- Vikash Narain in a time of 0:58:40 seconds - Winner of the 14km
- Michael Louis in a time of 0:34:09 seconds - Winner of the 8km race
This event was organised by investment group CIEL and the agricultural company the Alteo Group, and continues to attract trail runners from all over the globe. The organisers introduced two new events in 2013 the Fun Team Challenge and the Corporate Challenge which took place on the 8km and14km routes.
The 2013 event also saw runners from the island of Reunion taking part, who stayed at the Hotel Ambre, using the luxury 4 star resort as a base camp. All runners received a t-shirt and refreshments were provided throughout the event.
L’édition 2013 du Ferney Trail
Since its introduction, the Ferney Trail was keen to include a altruistic component, where proceeds are paid to NGO’s and other advocates for charitable causes.
The beneficiaries of the 2013 event were the Vallee de Ferney Conservation Trust and the association ‘Link to Life’ which provides support and counselling to local cancer patients and their families.
The popularity of this event has been increasined every year. The participants enjoy the extraordinary scenery and wildlife of this exotic island, but they run knowing they are also contributing to the welfare and wellbeing of others less fortunate than themselves. Long live the Ferney Trail
