Sun Resorts has always been actively involved in the community and particularly in the villages and areas surrounding its hotels.
Since 2004, our social involvement has become more focused with the setting up of a centrally-controlled Community Development Programme. Priority areas have been identified:
PAWS (Prevention of cruelty to animals)
SOS Children’s Villages
PILS (Fight against AIDS)
Sponsorship of ZEP Primary schools in underprivileged areas
Encouraging artists
The environment A Scholarship scheme for company staff
Priorities, of course, change over time and we are currently conducting a review of our activities.
Over the years, our involvement has been widespread. Major contributions have included a donation of a million rupees to the President’s Educational Fund for underprivileged children in 1999 and a further million to the Prime Minister’s Gujarat (Indian) Earthquake relief fund in 2001.

We have a pre-primary school, Fifi Ek Tizan, on the site of Le Touessrok Hotel which caters for the schooling of infants from Trou D’eau Douce, including those of fishermen and pleasure craft operators.
We completely revamped the beach-hawkers’ stalls and provided public facilities on Ile aux Cerfs as part of the Golf Course project and signed an agreement with the TDD/GRSE fishermen to allow them access to pick up their baits and for fishing.
